FCAT's over, but ordeal goes on

The marquee outside Kinnan Elementary School had the same sign for two weeks:

“FCAT March 10-19.”

Yet last Friday afternoon I noticed the last date.

FCAT was over.

The students at Kinnan and across Manatee County had to be relieved.

Their teachers, too.

Yet the FCAT ordeal isn’t over.

Particularly for teachers.

Not if draconian state legislation becomes law.

  1. Maybe we should stop critisizing the teachers and and put some blame for their share on the parents for failing students and dropuuts.
Maybe we should drop Fcats and give the teachers a chance to really teach instead preparing them for atest that is only profitable for the companies that produce them.
Then on theother hand there are some students who do not care for the kind of classes they have to take in High school.
I saw a recommendation some where that all students would have to take one year of Algebra, and science and physics.Rediculous.
not every student is going to be a scientist.
For some of them a trade may be more useful to them.Just a thought.
