If Carol Probstfeld wants to score points with the community as the new president of the State College of Florida, here’s a suggestion:
Rename the school.
Something with Manatee displayed prominently in it once again.
Like Manatee State.
Not immediately, but make it a consideration for down the road.
Probstfeld, who was vice president for business and administrative services, faces a host of challenges replacing Lars Hafner, whose resignation last Oct. 30 ended his turbulent three-plus years reign.
One of those challenges, as faculty member Luci Frith put it, is rebuilding the partnership with administrators, faculty, students, business owners and the community.
Especially the community.
